What Does a Transmission & Distribution Engineer Responsible For?

Transmission & Distribution Engineer Qualifications & Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in PSS/E, CYME, CYMDIST, or PowerWorld for load flow and fault analysis
  • Understanding of transmission planning, distribution planning, and interconnection processes
  • Knowledge of NERC reliability standards (FAC, MOD, TPL) and FERC Order 2023
  • Familiarity with NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and IEEE standards
  • Experience with pole loading, sag-tension calculations, and line design software
  • 4-10 years of T&D engineering experience
  • PE license preferred or EIT pursuing licensure
